A quotation from my favourite Edinburgh writing man of all time, Robert Louis Stevenson.

My current project is my charity walking tour (Facebook event here). This is something very special and important to me for reasons I’ve explained in previous posts so I won’t get into it again. Basic idea is that I’ve got a bit of a tragic backstory which I’m turning into a personal journey of change.
I thought I’d give a quick post here about what I intended. When setting off, I initially figured I might raise about £200. This was a modest figure, based on the approximate average take of a free walking tour of Edinburgh’s Old Town, after marketing costs are covered. Particularly at this time of year where the weather is bad and we’re entering the low season. I’m doing two of them so I doubled the number and figured that was a reasonable starting point. I also opened up a donation link as well because I assumed some people who’d like to come would be unable but still might like to contribute.
As you can see from this post which contains the donation link, I am already beyond this modest target! This is a great initial outpouring of generosity and I am thankful to everyone who has contribute me thus far already, plus the sharing which has led it to getting more numbers. Bookings remain open for those who want involved but for those who would like to help in any other way, more sharing is good and so are donations.
My next aim is for £500 which was my initial stretch aim but who knows. Maybe we could reach a £1000. It seems wild to imagine. This campaign isn’t even a week old and already it’s achieving so much.
