Join one of the Street Historians‘ experienced women’s history guides on this unique walking tour of Edinburgh’s bold and gallus women! Hear the stories and trace the footsteps of female artists, scientists, and political activists of the last 1000 years who changed Scotland and the world. You’ll learn about Mary Somerville, the 18th century “Queen of Science”, Elizabeth Whiskeman, an Edinburgh University academic and anti Nazi spy, and the Edinburgh 7, the first female undergraduate medical students at any Scottish and British University.

This two hour experience will teach you historical facts that other tours of the city simply do not cover, revealing fascinating insights into the role of women in historical society.
Current availability is essentially 11:30 – 13:30 on the third Sunday of every month but if you’d like availability outside of this you can book private tours here.
