Free Walking Tours by Great Tour Guides (Fun and Funny Old Town)
Here is info on how free tours work. But basically the Street Historians way is to call them Pay What You Think It’s Worth, which I think is more clear.

Edinburgh Free Walking Tour
This adventure in Edinburgh’s past covers the historic Old Town, the most famous and beautiful part of the city!
See the city which kicked off the modern world. Delight in our architecture and take in our culture. Hear fun facts, cool stories and amazing recommendations for things to do once the tour is finished.
We guarantee that our guides are experienced, fun, funny, and cover stories which other tours simply do not cover.
The tour is two hours and there are hills and steps. Alternate routes can be provided if necessary. Places to sit can also be organised if the guide knows your requirement. Our tours aim to be accessible though the city does not always make this possible.

Edinburgh True Crime Walking Tour
This is a walking tour of Edinburgh’s darkest stories – the True Crime tour of Edinburgh. This 90 minute tour captures the murders and bloodshed as the City of Edinburgh cuts a demonic figure in it’s 900+ year history.
Not for the faint of heart, this tour does feature stories unsuitable for children and those with unprocessed traumatic backgrounds. Parental discretion is advised for the former, whilst those who have their own triggers are advised to let us know so we can accommodate.
Those with mobility issues can be accommodated but we would appreciate being informed beforehand so we can ensure the best route.

Edinburgh LGBTQ Tour
This is a walking tour of Edinburgh focusing on LGBTQ history from the battle of legalisation to the modern issues faced by the community in the current day. A trip through the heart of Scotland’s capital to find out how LGBT people carved out a life in an occasionally hostile climate, past many important sites in the fight for liberation.
This matters now more than ever when the forces of reaction are working to make our community smaller and more isolated. Open to both members of the LGBTQ community as well as allies who are keen to show support. You pay nothing to join the tour and at the end you pay what seems a fair price.
To assist with valuable work in the LGBTQ community, part of the proceeds will go to LGBT Health and Wellbeing (recognised as a charity by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, no. SC034216)
This tour is an hour and a half and a half. It can be performed with minimal changes to be completely accessible to wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Our tours are trans-affirming and safe.

Edinburgh’s Forgotten Women
This tour is a depiction of Edinburgh’s history with a focus on the incredible women. Women who navigated a world not built for them, and did so as true innovators, yet they have often been underrepresented. Trace the footsteps and hear the stories of female scientists, artists and political activists of the last 1000 years who changed Scotland and the world. You’ll learn about Mary Somerville, the 18th century “Queen of Science”, Elizabeth Whiskeman, an Edinburgh University academic and anti Nazi spy, and the Edinburgh 7, the first female undergraduate medical students at any British University.
This 2-hour tour is an essential part of understanding Edinburgh and Scotland’s role in world history. It puts women into a central role and reveals fascinating stories nobody else has about the city. Tour takes place in the old town of Edinburgh with some steep hills and 10-15 stairs. In case of mobility issues please let the guide know so that alternative directions can be taken.
